- About me
My name is Andrea and I live in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland.
I started beading some months ago while I was in Brasil and have been invited by the owner of my favourite jewelry shop there to make a course with her. I loved it and started to bead since then. That was back in October 2008.
When I came back to Ireland I started buying more beads and findings: from gemstones to Murano and Swarovski crystals. I love mixing them in my pieces, and I am eager to learn more techniques all the time.
I only found this community today while browsing some beading blogs, and love the way it is structured.
I tend to use Swarovskis as accent beads in my creations and have quite a few here in my boxes!

- Experience and Creativity
I graduated in Industrial Design in 1984, but worked in the IT industry for most of my life as a Business Analyst.
However I have been diagnosed with MS and could no longer work full-time. This forces me to stay home most of the time, but last year I found that I really enjoy beading and it has everything to do with my original design background. So, I am coming back to that field by creating necklaces and other jewlery pieces.
I have accumulated experince in illustration and graphic design, as well as textile design. Nowadays however, after working in the IT industry for almost 20 years, I have decided to move back to that area, which is more suited to my personality and way of life.
All the pieces I create are one-of-a-kind. Since I decided to do it as a hobby and mostly to replace drawing, I never repeat my designs. I can use a specific one as a starting point for a new design, though. In this case I repeat the name of the piece and add a serial number. But the pieces are never the same.
I think about beading as making drawings. It's the same creative process, but in a more abstract level, which I enjoy very much since it gives me more freedom and more immediate results.

Hope you will enjoy it!
I have accepted your friend request already!
As for the inspiration and so on, I also use my memories of places I visited, manga I read, and Japanese myths and words as well. Sometimes it begings with a concept. Sometimes it's just the bead "talking to me"!
But note I only started it recently. So, I make lots of errors and I am experimenting a lot. Any suggestions or advice are more than welcome, OK?
Thank you so much for reading me, Ken, and talk to you soon!
