Venice in the Valley

- About me
I'm a landscape architect who went on a trip to Italy several years ago. I purchased a necklace in Venice. After Venice we went to Prague and one evening we came upon the Swarovski store with its massive crystal doors! That's the start. When I got back home I searched and searched for something that was even close to the design. It was a Murano cube focal bead with Swarovski rondelles hugging it on both sides with micro seed beads completing it. The great thing about the design was that it could be worn with jeans or to the opera. Since my search was fruitless I started making the jewelry myself. Who knew that a child of the sixties would fall in love with crystal sparkly things all over again. (Okay, I admit it, I never fell out of love with the sparkly.)
- Experience and Creativity
Self-taught. My experience? I've learned to hold onto my box of thousands of Swarovski beads very well after spilling every single one of them on the floor and having to separate crystal from crystal AB in all those sizes.
Now that's experience.

Welcome CVKathy!!!
I hope any of your time on our humble site will inspire as well as you've described here. We chat, support, comfort, tease and otherwise nettle the wildlife here. We share ideas, ogle each other's creations and give suggestions and such if asked. So...
Welcome to the group and PLEASE introduce yourself in the forum- We'd love to see you!
(Oh, and though no one HERE knows the depth, breadth and linguistic liquidity of my colorful language, I know how I would have reacted to "an entire box of crystals dropping" thing...really.
LOL!)
Warmest Regards,
Heather
Thank you for the very warm
Thank you for the very warm welcome Heather! Whenever my L.A.M.P. (Living As Married People) hears that so-noticible sound of bead(s) hitting the ground he says: "Oh, doing some floor work again?" I don't get too upset because who could I possibly blame? Me? Not likely. And there's not another person, thing, animate, or inanimate object around to shift-blame. Dang.
kathy (from Carmel Valley, California hence cvkathy...)
Welcome Carmel Valley....
From San Diego....So cool you joined us, and much cooler that you live in Sunny CA! I too know the pleasures of spilled crystals in the thousands! I work on my couch, so not only do they fall on the floor, they fall in between the cushions. I can never vacuum the rug until I go over it with a comb first to see if I've missed any of the little critters!
So, you have probably already figured out that you belong here amongst the rest of the crazies. Pop into the forum and you'll meet a bunch more! So, which Carmel Valley...the one near Del Mar or the one near Monterey?
Sparkles and smiles, Diane
TY
for the warm welcome. I'm from the upper Carmel Valley - Monterey Peninsula. But I lived in Del Mar for a while - in the original post office which had been converted into a 'unit.' We used to have dinner at a restaurant right on the other side of our place - one the main street. Once a week the owner would have a 99-cent special - soup, salad, prime rib, potatoes and dessert. I would guess that no longer exists. My oldest daughter was born at Mercy Hospital in San Diego.

Drat, but at least we are in the same time zone....
I was hoping it was Carmel Valley area of San Diego, near Del Mar. BTW, I live just down the street from the old Mercy Hospital, technically up the street...off of West Washington by the School District offices.
