Instruction

Step 1

Begin with approx. 2 meters of 0.5mm jewellery wire and a selection of beads in colours and shapes that suit your style. Different beads produce dramatically different results so experiment with the odd beads in your bead box and see what creations you can come up with! Thread on a centre bead or pendant and twist the bead into the wire to secure it as shown. Continue working from the centre outwards until you have reached your desired length or until there is at least 10cms left at each end.

Step 2

Repeat Step 1 so that you have two beaded strands the same length. Put the two strands together so that beads line up and twist the wires together at one end for approx. 2cms. Slip your clasp over the two wires and form a loop with the twisted section as shown. Twist the loop to secure it. Wrap the wires around under the loop tightly and snip with the wire cutters. Squash the ends with pliers to prevent any sharp edges.

Step 3

Twist to the two beaded strands together and make another loop at the other end in the same way as before to finish your necklace.

Tips

If you get serious about working with wire, invest in a pair of nylon jaw pliers to straighten kinked wire reduce wastage.

Embellish your necklace with organza ribbon. Simply knot small pieces into your work to soften your design.
