What Does Your Mugshot Say About YOU?

In perusing the new book from Kalmbach Publishing this morning, "Beading Across America," it occured to me that each of the contributor images expressed much about them. When you have the opportunity, look at these images and see how each conveys a very personal statement in the facial expression, background, lighting, colors and posture. For example, consider the smiling but downcast expression of Huib Petersen which shows him in a pensive thoughtful mood vs the perky, forthright picture of Suzanne Golden. Consider the backgrounds used...Suzanne Golden's polka dots say "fun," while Scarlet Lanson's floral background says "romantic," or Jeannette Shannigan's says, "Alaska." Regarding posture, Laura McCabe appears to have glanced up from her work with the lighting emphasizing the moment (and her business name, "Just Let Me Bead") while Nikia Angel peeking over the top of her glasses somewhat impishly against a blue sky background suggests she is having a good time. June Huber, noted for her geometric pieces, has a brick wall for a background echoing the shapes she is known for. And, last but not least...consider the camera angle...is it straight on, upward or looking down on you? Does your picture say you are friendly and approachable, the kind of person one would want to take a class with?
One final note...don't miss the opportunity to show off your own beadwork within your mugshot...while necklaces may be cropped off, earrings seldom are.
Hmmm, time to reconsider my own mugshot!
