- Description
A step outside the box for me, my client wanted a large bib-type collar necklace using the shell pendants she chose. Of course, I had to add some Swarovski, but this wasn't meant to be a sparkly necklace, so I used 4mm Swarovski Crystal Pearls for spacers between the shell pendants, and for the extra dangles in the front.

Step by step

Step 1
String 1 pearl and 1 shell, 22 times on a 24" length of Beadalon wire. Adjust so shell groups are moved to the center of the wire, and use a bead stopper to hold in place on the left side. On the right side, string 7 seed beads and 1 pearl 7 times, then string a crimp tube, 7 seed beads and one half of the clasp. String back through the crimp tube and crimp (last 7 seed beads will form a loop through the clasp loop). If desired, cover crimp tube with crimp cover. Repeat this on the left side with the 2nd half of the clasp.

Step 2
Thread a needle with about 36" Size B Crystal Fireline (or equilvalent beading thread). Starting with the 1st Crystal pearl on either left or right side (whatever is comfortable), thread through the pearl and leave about a 3" tail. Pick up 7 seed beads, then thread through the next Crystal Pearl. Repeat until you reach the shell section.

Step 3
Pick up 7 seed beads and thread through the next Crystal Pearl. The seed beads will lie on top of the first shell pendant. Repeat until you have gone over 8 pendants and threaded through the adjacent pearl.
Add 1 Crystal Pearl and 1 seed bead. Thread back through added pearl, then back through the same necklace pearl that you exited (2 pearl drop created).
Note: If you are working from the right side this means thread through the right side of the pearl, if you are working from the left side, then go back and thread through the left side of the pearl.
Pick up 7 seed beads and thread through the next Crystal Pearl, add 2 Crystal Pearls and 1 seed bead. Thread back through the 2 added pearls, then back through the same necklace pearl that you exited (3 pearl drop created).
Pick up 7 see beads and thread through the next Crystal Pearl, add 3 Crystal Pearls and 1 seed bead. Thread back through the 3 added pearls and back through the same necklace pearl that you exited (4 pearl drop created).
Pick up 7 seed beads and thread through the next Crystal Pearl, add 4 Crystal Pearls and 1 seed bead. Thread back through the 4 added pearls and back through the same neclace pearl that you exited (5 pearl drop created).
Reverse the above steps to create a 4 pearl, 3 pearl and 2 pearl drop.
Pick up 7 seed beads and thread through the next Crystal Pearl 8 times until you reach the crimp tube.

Step 4
When you reach the crimp, tie a half hitch around the beading wire and pass the needle back through the pearl. Pick up 7 seed beads and thread through the next pearl. Repeat this step until you reach the 1st shell pendant. Instead of picking up 7 seed beads, thread through the shell beads and the pearls until you reach the last shell pendant. Thread through the next pearl, then pick up 7 seed beads, thread through the next pearl and repeat until you reach your starting thread tail. Tie a surgeons knot with the 2 tail ends and weave the tails back through a couple of the seed beads and cut.
