My Morning with Project Runway 8 Guys
On A bright and sunny day in Hawaii, I had the opportunity to spend the morning with the Men of Project Runway season 8... as they were getting a small taste of Hawaii on a Promotional Fashion Tour Hosted by Andy South. I wanted to give them a change of pace from thier busy and crazy filled nights and days by hosting a mini DIY workshop with them.
my choice of project : Crystal ClayTM , which is a 2 part epoxy type clay that you mix and place into a finding blank and embellish with crystal! what a wonderful time it was talking with them and bouncing off ideas back and forth of design and talking with them all about SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and what each of them are doing with their carrers since PR8. and listening to stories and I have to say it was very interesting as these 4 are not shy at all in their stories and conversation ...LOL!!!
I brought along choices of color, textures, shapes and sizes of product to play with and as we sat in the pool area of the Waikiki Edition Hotel, these 4 amazing young designers made a ring and bracelet choosing such diverse textures .. Mondo Gurerra chose colors of Fire opal 2x and fushia saying it reminded him of when he was a child and picked a flower in those very colors for his mother...
Andy South chose Blacks, hemetite and Jet AB 2x, Casanova Carlos chose mostly blacks and silvers and l Micheal Drummond who chose the coolest patterns of texture. they were surprised how fun and simple it was to create jewelry, It was such an awesome opportunity to meet them and it's interesting how when you meet them .. what ever you thought of them before changes.. for instance, I didnt think too much of Micheal Drummond during the show but in person, I love him the most.. he is the sweetest and most personable personality that you instantly want to be his best friend. :)
During the weekend the public had the opportunity to see the latest collection from these designers, Mondo with his colorful fun-loving fabrics and Casanova with his funky cool look and spider brooches. micheal Drummond with his knitted fabrics and christopher Collins with Beautiful textures.. Andy South with his dramatic Dark fabrics and Purely detailed designs. events were attended also by buyers and writers for the big name stores and Magazines and newspapers ... so as the new season PR9 starts tonight, I am excited to See the new talent as they deal with challenges and judges..
