How Do YOU Organize Your Crystals?

Do you remember when you first started creating jewellery? Has the way you organize your beads changed as your skill evolved and your bead stash grew?
I remember when I started. I filled one of these plastic containers below and could not believe how many beads I had! Then I filled two. Then three.... you can see where I am going!
Suddenly I had a plastic container for each colour.
Eventually I moved all my beads out of these containers and back into bags. I label the bags with where I purchased the beads, the name and size of the beads and the price. Then I put all beads of similar colours in plastic shoe boxes. I must admit that as my bead stash grows, so does the number of different colour mini-stashes. No longer is there a "green" box. There are now  three boxes "peridot",  "olivine" and "emerald".

My lovely, sparkling Crystallized Elements are kept in watchmaker's cases, similar to the one below. There is something luxurious about opening the lid and seeing all these little tins of crystals twinkling at you.

How do you organize yourself?
Do you keep all your 4mm's separate from your 6mm's?
Do you sort by colour, size or both?
I am so looking forward to hearing from you!
Share any organizing tips and tricks that work for you!
Until next time!

Great topic, Stephanie!

Most of the beads I bought originally were in bags of assortments (seriously, I started with acrylic bicones that I bought at Michael's).  I had to sort all the colors, because I wanted only the reds, so I used the ubiquitious plastic container boxes with adjustable inserts (to change the size of the sections).  Well, those little inserts don't stay in place very well do they and my colors would get mixed up anyway.

When I started purchasing Crystallized Swarovski Elements they came in little plastic bags, and I stuck with those for organization.  I put the bags in plastic container boxes (upgraded to better quality from the original ones) sorted by color.  Because I only used 3 and 4 mm bicones, I was in pretty good shape for a long time.

Then...I branched out into other elements (as I'm sure we all do) so now I have separate containers for the non-bicone pieces.  All these containers are stored in an Elpha system of wire drawers that I have covered with a wooden table top and tablecloth.  Because my house is so small, my main storage area is in my living room.  As long as the table cloth is in place no one would know that my Swarovski hoard is under it!

I am getting ready to upgrade my storage system soon, though.  Been saving up my $$$ for a new Craft Kit that I saw in Tucson last year.  I'm planning on buying 2 of these boxes that have 100+ containers

Then I can put each color/size in an individual container, and have the flexibility of adding new sizes, colors, and of course, all the new Innovations as they are released!

I'm really looking forward to using this new organization tool.

How bout everyone else?

Sparkles and smiles,  Diane

ORGANISATION

Hi, all.  One day I was cleaning up my workroom after a rather large production of a jewellery piece when I found I had Swarovski everywhere!!!! in small lots.  To sort the mess, out I purchased small plastic pots with lids and then sorted out all the colours into these pots, wrote on the top the colour and shape and then placed them in a multi-spaced box with a lid (like the one in Dixiechicks post). There are four with crystals, one with pearls.  The findings live in another multi divided storage box.  All threads in another, wire another and tools in a big divided open topped tool box.  Noel
