BeadStyle July All-Star Issue
CSE Ambassadors Linda Arline Hartung, Katie Hacker, Kim St. Jean, Brenda Schweder and I were invited to contribute special designs for BeadStyle July All-Star Issue. Below is the introduction from BeadStyle Editor Cathy Jakicic. Monica Han ************************************************************************************************************************* We're counting the days until June 1. That's the publication date of our July issue, and I have to say, it's a great one. I say this without the risk of sounding immodest because it's our fabulous contributing designers who made it fabulous. We're calling it our "All-Star" issue because it's the first time BeadStyle has commissioned specific projects from designers. We took a list of our favorite designers and (with difficulty) managed to narrow it down to a group who represented locations from around the U.S. and beyond. We asked them to design a piece inspired by the areas they live in (literally or spiritually). The response was wonderful. The All-Star issue includes creations by: You'll notice our hometown, Milwaukee, gets a little extra love. Irina and Brenda's pieces are each spectacular in their own way. Irina's was inspired by Milwaukee's botanical gardens and Brenda's by the Santiago Calatrava architecture of the Milwaukee Art Museum. The staff decided to round out the issue by creating pieces inspired by favorite travel destinations. For instance, I left my heart in Venice long ago. The issue also includes the fruits of my travels to Tucson, Ariz., for this year's bead shows in February. We're showcasing 101 of the coolest beads, findings, components, and tools I found.
