Ummm, not to be disrespectful, but, yes, indeed, it has been!
Alexandrite is not in production often, having been discontinued some years back, but once in a blue moon we'll come across some. If a big-time jewelry designer custom orders a batch, we will sometimes see some overrun stock.
I most recently got some in December of 2010, and it was the new 5328 Xilion.
I also have an *old* (OLD!!!) Sample Card with Alexandrite on it, and some Vintage Flatback Cabochons in Alexandrite, still in their original boxes.
Sorry, not trying to be a know-it-all, but in this particular case, I am a "know-it-some"!

You are right - the Alexandrite was available as a special color edition some years ago. Currently it is not part of the SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS color assortment.
